Seismic Activity in the Aso Region, Kumamoto Prefecture Since November 25 (continued)

A review of seismic activity since 1885 reveals that 8 earthquakes with M6.0 or greater have occurred near the epicenter (Area c). Among these, an M6.3 earthquake on July 28, 1889, caused damage in Kumamoto Prefecture, including 19 fatalities and the complete destruction of 234 houses. Additionally, an M6.4 earthquake on April 21, 1975, caused damage in Oita Prefecture, including 22 injuries and the complete destruction of 58 houses (damage data are sourced from the "Materials for Comprehensive List of Destructive Earthquakes in Japan").
