Seismic activity in Aki Nada

*On March 26th at 5:41 a.m., there was an M5.2 earthquake at a depth of 50 km (data for both magnitude and depth are currently tentative), which registered a maximum seismic intensity of 5 upper in part of southern Hiroshima Prefecture. This event was an aftershock to the M6.4 (tentative) earthquake at a depth of 50 km that occurred on March 24th in Aki Nada, and occurred within the area of occurrence of other aftershocks to the event thus far.

*No marked changes in trend have been observed in the aftershock activity described in yesterday's (Mar. 25) report.

*There remains the possibility of further aftershock of around M5. In the event of such an occurrence, it is believed there would be a seismic intensity of 4 in Hiroshima Prefecture, with the potential for significantly higher seismic intensities depending on area.
