Seismic activity in the area from the sea near Niijima-Kozushima to Miyakejima (entire period)
There has been continued seismic activity since the volcanic eruption on Miyakejima on June 26th in the area of Miyakejima, Niijima and Kozushima, with 532 events of M4 or greater recorded from the start of the activity to August 8th. On July 1st, there was an M6.4 event in the sea about 5 km east of Kozushima, which registered seismic intensity of 6 lower on Kozushima. Then, on July 9th, 2 km northeast of the July 1st event, there was an M6.1 event, which registered seismic intensity of 6 lower on Kozushima. On July 15th, there was an M6.3 event about 2 km northwest of Niijima, which registered seismic intensity of 6 lower on Niijima. On July 30th, there was an M6.4 event in the sea 10 km southwest of Miyakejima, which registered seismic intensity of 6 lower on Miyakejima.
