The reduction in seismic activity in the conjectural locked zone in the Tokai region

Seismic activity (M1.5 and greater) in the footwall of the conjectural locked zones
The incidences in the eleven zones from August 22nd, 1999 to July16th, 2000 were: 2,2,3,3,3,5,2,7,4,6, and 2. However, due to masking by the activity in the Miyakejima and Kozushima area, it is possible that some events in the new zone may have gone undetected. In the twelfth zone, there were three events on the eighteen-day period from July 17th, 2000 to August 3rd, 2000.
